Google now offers a service for you to do a search of
anyone's phone
number and DISCLOSE THE ASSOCIATED ADDRESS.,
Google finds the associated street address and then even offers to make
a map for someone to find your house.
Give it a try, go to http://www.google.com
put in your home phone number
with area code in the search line and then ENTER.
See for yourself.
This means that Internet daters who are concerned about safety and think
they are protected by giving out only their phone number with out
disclosing the address should think again.
This is actually nothing new........
You or they have been able to this all along, just call the research
department at the library....
ask them for the address for that number and they will look it up in the
phone co reverse directory or if you are not listed in the phone book
you can never the less often be found in the Polk or other the city
directory...either one...the library research folks will usually find
it.
Google now makes this much easier of course...and is a technique known
by many more, so this is why we suggest on the web that you give out an
IM (instant messaging) or email address, not a phone number when
responding to ads online or newspaper personals or meeting someone you
do not know for the first time, etc. Initially at least...until you feel
comfortable giving out your telephone number.
With IM you can cancel their access immediately anytime.

Email, you may have to delete a lot if they persist after being dropped,
or you can list their address as spam if you are using a spam filter
The other option is to use your cell phone number which can not disclose
your home address as the home number can, as we have alerted and
explained to you here.
So now you need to rethink your dating activity safety rules:
Never give out your home phone number at least initially, avoid doing so
if you are concerned about them obtaining your home address.!
If you have a progressing romance and it is comfortable enough now for
you to go to "conversing on the phone lines stage", use a cell phone
number.
You calling them from your home number does not maintain you anonymity
since they likely have caller ID or can dial 57 when you hang up and get
your phone number and then do the google to obtain your address.
Until you are ready to give out your phone number,
use these methods to preserve your anonymity.
