And it’s not just about romantic dating.

In these challenging times, having someone to talk to can really make a difference. For example, the more measures of physical isolation increase, the more new conversations on Tinder grow and lengthen.

** 4 psychological tricks to keep from going crazy in quarantine **

To get to know each other, sure, it’s still a dating app, but also to get a firsthand perspective on what you’re experiencing in another part of the world.

Impossible, you say?

Sure, because as of today on Tinder (in the free version) you can only browse people in your area, but thanks to a system update from Thursday, March 26, and until April 30, everyone will be able to decide in which city to go out (virtually) to meet new people.

**5 interesting facts you don’t know about Tinder (and online dating)**

What is Tinder Passport and what is it for

Tinder Passport is a feature (usually paid and now free for the quarantine period) that allows you to virtually explore other cities by simply changing your location in the settings.

Until now Tinder Passport was an exclusive option for those with Tinder Plus and Gold subscriptions.

But the dating app has released an update for Android and iOS to make Passport free for everyone starting March 26.

The goal is to allow users to at least virtually come out of quarantine and connect with the whole world, to talk to those who are experiencing the same situation, wherever they are, to feel closer, even if they are physically far away.

But also for all those who are going through quarantine in a place other than where they usually live, and who want to meet people to be reunited with later once everyone is back to normal.

How Tinder Passport works

Using Passport is so easy. Once you open your Tinder profile just go to settings and then click on the location option.

There users can search for a city by typing in its name or clicking on the map, and once they change the location, Tinder works in the exact same way.

Currently you can locate yourself in one city at a time, but you can change location setting as often as you want.

People you have had a match with will be able to view your profile up to a day after you change your location.
